Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology – DMLT ( 2 years)

The CMLT and DMLT courses are practical oriented courses in MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY extending over a period of 12 & 24 calendar months respectively starting by August.  The course has ample scope for employment as there is a permanent shortage of qualified technicians in every hospital.

The certificate and Diploma are issued by The Director of  Medical Education and by the Director, King Institute of Preventive Medicine, Guindy. The theory examinations are conducted by the Director, King Institute  of Preventive Medicine, Guindy &  Practical exams are conducted by the examiners  appointed  by  the  same authority.

Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immuno-Haematology, Clinical pathology, Histopathology & Cytopathology are covered in the above period.

After the completion of the course there is also scope for further specializations in the fields of Cytopathology, Immunohaematology, Microbiology, Etc.

Students can undergo training for a further period of upto one year subject to rules. Training is not mandatory for CMLT Students.DMLT students will have to do a three months training programme as per government directions for which no stipend will be given and no fees will be charged.

ELIGIBILITY MARKS

Candidates should secure a minimum aggregate of the following marks in the Science subjects in the 10+2 Or PDC Examination.

O.C.                     45 %

M.B.C./DNC       45 %

S.C./S.T.              Pass

Spot admission will be given only to candidates with marks above 65% in the Science subjects.   Admission for other students will be made after scrutinizing the applications at a later date.  The students will be interviewed and assessed before admission is finalized.

At the time of admission the candidate should pay the full fees for the year. Fees once paid cannot be refunded after registration, under any circumstances and hence the candidate is required to seek admission only after finalizing all options for his/her career. If the candidate discontinues anytime during the course, he/she will have to pay the balance fees if any in full Hostel accommodation will be given if needed (Not  compulsory)

Additional DD for Rs. 100/- payable to, The Director, King Institute of Preventive Medicine, Guindy, Chennai-32, should be Paid after the admission is finalized, towards registration fee.

The students abstaining from classes should produce proper leave letter.
Except on medical grounds all other leave application should be given a minimum of three days before the intended leave and proper sanction should be obtained.

The students should wear white overcoats during practical and observation hours.
The records for the practicals should be purchased from the office at their own expense.
All the students should have their own copy of the recommended books.
The students should have their own gloves for handling specimens.

A study tour will be conducted and the students will have to bear the expenses

Fill up the application form as follows:

1. Write your name in block letters, initials and prefix Mr /Miss/ Mrs. should be added.
2. Write the name &  address of your parent.  If both parents are not alive write the name of the guardian.
3. Permanent address with pin code and your phone number or your contact phone number.
4. Enter date of birth (Attach Xerox copy of the S.S.L.C. certificate bearing the date of birth).
5. Community as entered in the S.S.L.C Book (Copy of certificate to be attached).
6. Enter the academic details as given in the +2 certificate.
7. Fill up if you have studied beyond +2
8. Write “Indian”, if you are not and Indian write the country of your origin.
9. Attach three Xerox copies of the documents mentioned.  Original documents are to be produced at the time of admission for verification.  Original TC should be handed over at the time of admission.
